Bingo Tips and Tricks for Canadian Players
If you are from Canada and love to play Bingo, you may already know the basics, but I figured that I would run through a few of the fundamentals that I thought might be helpful for players that are new:
As you begin, you will purchase a bingo card with a 5X5 grid; within the grid will be numbers along with the word BINGO at the top. Next, numbers will be drawn at random. In the Canadian and American Bingo edition, any number from 1 to 75 are called; in the British and Australian games, usually numbers from 1 to 90 are called. The game will continue until a player calls out, “BINGO” in any one of the patterns that are being played.
The first player to call out, “BINGO!” will be the prize-winner.
The bingo card will consist of twenty-four numbered squared along with a free space. Random numbers are also on every card, and arranged in a 5X5 format (five blocks across by five blocks down).
Canadian Bingo Halls
In Canada, bingo is often played in large halls for cash prizes. The larger hall is linked to smaller ones in the evening time, which means large cash sums may often be won.
Bingo is played in halls, churches and schools usually playing for prizes, and not cash; this is done mainly as a fundraising method for certain charities. The prizes for Bingo are often donated by local businesses; bingo games of this type are usually quite formal and everybody is free to join in on the fun!
Calling the Bingo Numbers
When at a Bingo hall a caller will announce the bingo balls as they are revealed. Participants should pay close attention to the numbers being called and make sure to correctly mark them on the card. The game continues until one or more people call out, “BINGO”. The game is then paused until the numbers can be verified. If the individual is indeed a winner, a prize will be awarded. A new game will then begin with all new cards being distributed. In the case that there is more than one winner, the prize will be divided evenly.
Canadian Online Bingo
When you have decided to play Bingo online, you will find that the bingo cards will selected for you randomly. Most bingo websites will give you up to four cards; however, some may site give you the option of purchasing more. As is the case with standard (land) bingo, a caller will display the numbers to the online participants. The pattern will be displayed for you to follow to follow along. It may be worth keeping in mind most online Bingo site will give you the option of automatically mark your cards for you.
